Raymond Vern Jones, Jr was born September 23, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN , the first born of Raymond and Mabel Mae (Irvin) Jones. Ray graduated from the Indiana School for the Deaf in 1974. He valued his friendship in both the deaf and hearing community. Ray was a member of Boy Scout Troop 451 where he earned the Eagle Scout Award. He was an adventurous guy who never allowes his inability to hear to define him, going so far as to hitchhike to 49 states with Hawaii being the only exception. In his senior years he loved completing crossword puzzles.
After an illness, Ray passed away August 17, 2017 at Allisonville Meadows in Fishers, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved canine Bridget. He was survived by his brother, Curtis Eugene Jones and sister, Deborah Gail (Jones) White and a nephew and several nieces. The family would especially like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Allisonville Meadows f for their care and compassion, and to Ray's nephew Donald Alan Jones who was his guardian and lovingly manage his care in the months leading up to his death.
A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at 8011 Witherington Rd, Indianapolis, IN Sunday September 10 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made in his name to the Indiana School for the Deaf; 1200 E 42nd St., Indianapolis IN 46205.
